sidekick Studios - Technical Lead

This is a permanent, contract or freelance role, based in United Kingdom, posted October 11, 2012.

We're partly venturing company, partly innovation consultancy, all mission. We create our own startups and we do it with/for our clients. We are makers of good startups.

We're looking for an experienced Ruby (Rails, Sinatra etc) developer with strong creative skills and a passion for working on fast paced, fluid projects. We see this role as a kind of 'product hacker' - someone who takes responsibility for making a web product work well enough to get it off the ground and out the door (without leaving a mess for someone else to clean up later!)

If you are more than a Rubyist, all the better - mobile dev skills, interface design, UX thinking - the more the merrier. At Sidekick we love self sufficient people, so the more you can do, the more chance you'll love this role.

We need someone with 5+ years experience working across a range of projects and products. You've led small teams of similar minded people, and ideally helped deliver several full web products to market, either in an agency role, or as part of a startup team. You'll have responsibility for delivering prototype and production code which means you'll need to work closely with our UX designers, visual designers, UI developers and QA to create final interfaces, and act as the point person for all technical decisions on a project.

For the right person this is the dream job - the flexibility, openness and control over product design that you would find at a startup, but with the variety, peer-support and salary that you get in an agency/studio.

We want a team player, with broad and deep user centred design experience, the ability and agility to know where corners can be cut without compromising quality, the experience to know when documentation matters, and when inspiration and energy is a better tool to get stuff built.

Beyond the varied, fast paced and always changing work we offer a competitive salary, a significant training budget, a great team, very flexible office hours, whatever tech you need to work hard and lovely office in the heart of East London. We also go on sweet trips, eat lunch together as much as possible and we have a ping pong table in our boardroom.

When applying please include links to examples of your work and ideally your github profile or similar. No recruiters. Thanks.
