London to help drive forward the ongoing development of our retail
proposition.

The person we are looking for is already highly technically skilled in
front-end web technologies, and probably already has a reasonable
working knowledge of the "back end", and is now ready to take the next
step into developing that knowledge much more broadly. As well as
having the room to grow and learn new skills, this role will offer the
successful applicant the ability to influence and direct the future
development of the mydeco web properties at an extremely exciting time
for the business.

Skills

* Able to take designs in graphic format - Photoshop, .PNG, etc - and
turn them into working HTML5 & CSS2/3 templates
* Can create functional wireframes and prototypes for new site
features / interactivity / flow
* Ability to create new libraries of front-end code to handle common
interaction models and site features in a way that they can be
consistently re-used throughout the site
* Able to create production mark-up and code that degrades and/or
fails gracefully

Technical Knowledge

The successful candidate is likely to have in-depth knowledge of:

* HTML5 and / or X/HTML markup, and use within both server-side and
client-side templating solutions (such as, but in no way limited to,
Jinja or Handlebars)
* Strong knowledge of CSS and cross-browser layout and display issues,
including platforms such as mobile phones/tablets as well as desktop
browsers
* Client-side scripting knowledge, such as Javascript, Actionscript or
Coffeescript languages, and libraries such as JQuery, Mootools, or
Zepto.
* Multiple tools to ensure code quality, such as static analysers and
unit test suites
* A range of tools to find and fix problems with code, such as code
debuggers and page content inspectors

In addition, any demonstrable knowledge of the following would be advantageous:

* server-side API design using principles such as RPC, REST / HATEOAS,
and / or architectural knowledge of HTTP
* ability to develop server-side code in an MVC-style environment,
such as Rails, Django, or Zend Framework
* automated in-browser testing using harnesses such as Selenium
* client-side application architectural knowledge using frameworks
such as Backbone or SproutCore
* development and contribution of code in a distributed environment,
such as an open-source project

Attributes

* Happy working in a small team and taking responsibility for critical
site functionality
* Ability to thrive in a start-up environment
* Desire to learn more and become a truly "full stack" developer
* Independently-minded but good at asking the right questions
* Approaches problems with a critical eye
* Interest in developing an understanding of the business as a whole
* Driven by delivering quality output, with an eye for "fit and
finish" details in both design and functionality

Salary

£30,000 - £40,000
