London | Permanent, full time | £30,000 - £50,000

We are looking for a Senior Web Developer to join our growing web development team based in London. Our team design and develop exciting websites and popular online services; we are looking for a senior developer with exceptional abilities who can take their place at the forefront of our development team, working closely with our head programmer.

The role

As a senior web developer you will spearhead significant aspects of our development effort, working with our team to build large-scale web services that are crucial to our business. You will be required to learn the working practices and methodologies outlined by our head programmer, and will quickly begin working on upgrades to our biggest software products.

We do not expect you to be familiar with the specific platforms we work in and we will provide training.

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in developing our most crucial back-end software
• Develop a key understanding in the way we work and think pro-actively to help us reach our goals
• Promote the methodologies set by our head programmer throughout the development team
• Be industry-aware, forward-thinking and help us ensure our software is ahead of the curve
• Ensure a high level of quality control throughout the programming team

Skills

• Python, though we would consider programmers with experience of other object-oriented languages such as Java or Ruby
• MySQL and experience planning complex database structures
• Experience and enthusiasm planning and developing large/complex web projects
• A high degree of industry knowledge and the energy to innovate
• Fluent with HTML, CSS and JavaScript frameworks
• A keen eye for detail and quality control
• Ability to grasp our working practices and project methodology
• Some experience of large infrastructure or cloud computing would be helpful

Salary:

£30,000 - £50,000 depending on previous experience.
