As a Web Developer, you will be part of our small in-house development team, helping us continuously improve our high-traffic desktop and mobile websites and related systems.

The work is both technical and creative in nature, requiring a blend of backend and frontend skills. Whilst development is based on the .NET stack, we are open-minded and forward-thinking, not limiting ourselves to Microsoft technologies – alongside .NET 4.0, ASP.NET (combination of MVC and WebForms) and SQL Server 2008, you can expect to work with HTML5, jQuery, Knockout, Backbone, Git, StructureMap, Lucene, TeamCity and any other tool we feel is the best for the job.

With this being an e-commerce operation, you can also expect to be involved in areas such as credit card processing, 3D-secure, SEO, analytics and social networking, sometimes liaising with external agencies. Because we trade around the clock, you will also be required to provide ad-hoc out of hours support on occasion.

About you

This is a senior role so you're expected to be a competent and self-motivated coder, able to prove your .NET and JavaScript skills and provide examples of commercial sites you've contributed to (we're really interested in any mobile experience). Working with our marketing team, you'll be able to understand concepts quickly, work with fresh ideas and contribute as appropriate.

You will have a logical mind and good attention to detail, able to craft a polished UI from the design concepts provided. Whilst you won't necessarily be a designer, ideally you will have a creative spark, happy to dive into Photoshop when necessary, and you'll care about every single pixel.

As a good communicator, you'll be keen to get involved in discussions and arguments and express your own views. Whenever you see room for improvement you won't be afraid to speak up, and you'll readily ask questions or hit Google/StackOverflow if you're not sure about something.

You will have your ear to the ground of the web development communities, keeping abreast of the latest news and views from the worlds of .NET, JavaScript and HTML5.

We also have a clothing range, Pepperberry.
