Ever found it hard to find a well-recommended financial adviser, mortgage broker, solicitor, accountant or architect? VouchedFor is a startup that aims to solve that problem. We've got major industry partners, positive press and have just agreed a seed round of investment from a few well known names.

Having launched the product and proved it works we now need the right person to become the first hire in our development team. You’ll be critical in determining our future architecture and will help grow the team as we scale. You’ll be delivering functional requirements and improving our existing system as you go, with the subsequent aim of conceiving and moving to our long term architecture. We’ve got some fantastic projects lined up and you’ll be working with some new API’s and doing some very interesting front end development. We’re not about tech for the sake of tech but if you can convince us that the right platform for growth is, for example, Scala on Heroku you’ll be building a demo to prove it the next week.

Culture:
Even though we’re about finance we still have fun - really! We encourage independent thought and hope to arrange some get togethers for startups in the SW London area in the near future as well.

What we use now:
PHP, MySQL, JQuery, Custom CMS

Where we want to be:
Clean, scalable, maintainable code on the right framework (maybe Symfony 2, CodeIgniter, Yii, FuelPHP - help us choose!)

About You:
Excellent level of MySQL and OO PHP at a practical level (3 years + )
Demonstrable knowledge of how best to architect scalable Web sites for performance and SEO Extensive knowledge of best practice design patterns
A history of delivering great code to agreed timelines
You see problems and fix them
You’re self motivated and not shy about asking questions to make sure you get things right
Demonstrable full stack experience
You’re passionate about technology and about good code
Fluent in written and spoken english
Involved or keen to get involved in the startup and tech scene.
